YUKON, Okla. (KFOR) — Neighbors told News 4 a stain in the road is a constant reminder of the chaos that unfolded on July 14th.
"He was laying out here all day pretty much," said Nicholas Baldwin, who lives nearby.
On July 14th, just before 3:30 a.m., Oklahoma City police were called to a neighborhood near NW 96th and Mustang Rd. Although it's a Yukon address, it is OKC's jurisdiction.
"When they arrived they found a subject lying in the roadway that had been shot multiple times. That subject was pronounced dead at the scene," said Lt. Jeff Cooper of Oklahoma City Police Depart.
"About seven rounds going off," Baldwin recalled. "People screaming."
New court documents said during a fight the suspect, Ramari Boone-Haye, pulled out an assault rifle.
Officers said the victim, William Birdtail, grabbed the rifle while saying Boone-Haye was not going to shoot him. That's when Boone-Haye, 21, allegedly lowered the rifle, "chambered a round and shot [Birdtail] in the face, before shooting him multiple times while he was on the ground, causing his death."
While laying there, officers said Boone-Haye hit the 49-year-old in the head with the same gun.
Detectives say they soon learned the suspect made videos "of the crime scene, involved parties, and the deceased victim on his cell phone before posting them to social media."
Boone-Haye allegedly told investigators he was upset after being assaulted by several people, although "he did not feel like his life was in danger."
Neighbors said Birdtail's body laid in their street for hours while police investigated.
"Everybody saw it. People were coming out here for church," said Baldwin.
Officers collected pieces of the road as evidence.
"There's three scoops taken out of [the road]," said Baldwin.
Boone-Haye is now in jail on first degree-murder and feloniously pointing a firearm charges.
