In the sketch, Conan appeared dressed as Aunt Gladys from Weapons, the character played by Amy Madigan in the film, who won for Best Supporting Actress during the ceremony.
“I feel like something’s a little off. Don’t you think it’s a little much?” he asked.
Wearing white makeup and a red wig, he joked: “I think you used way too much white…wash this off…I can’t look like this, I look like Bette Davis with lupus!” before a group of kids began chasing him, just like the climatic scene in the movie.
The bit then turned into a montage of movie parodies featuring several nominated films, from playing ping-pong in Marty Supreme, to racing in F1, to running through the Hamnet theater, to sitting with Stellan Skasgard in Sentimental Value, to walking up to the Sinners juke joint.
The montage eventually led him all the way to the stage inside the Dolby Theatre, as the ceremony officially kicked off with his monologue. Watch above!
The Oscars ceremony is being hosted by comedian Conan O’Brien for the second year in a row. Sinners broke a record for most nominations for a movie in a single year, with 16 nods. Check out the full list of nominees!
