Met Gala 2026: Dress Code Confirmed, Celebrity Co-Chairs & Host Committee Members Announced
The 2026 Met Gala officially has a dress code!
“Fashion is Art” will be the focus for the clothing worn by celebs, fashionistas, and attendees at the 2026 event, set to take place on the first Monday in May.
We previously learned that the theme this year is “Costume Art,” the spring exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. It’s dedicated to “the centrality of the dressed body in the museum’s vast collection.”
“Hopefully, it will put an end to the rather obsolete ‘Is Fashion Art?’ debate once and for all,” Andrew Bolton, curator of the Met’s Costume Institute, shared about the dress code. Many are musing that this will give attendees a lot of flexibility in what they choose to wear.
We also have a list of celebrities who are co-chairs this year, and who is on the prestigious host committee.
