Hilary Duff Confirms Theories That New Music References 'Complicated' Family Amid Haylie Duff Rumors
Hilary Duff is speaking out about her family.
There have been recent lyrics that fans have wondered could be about a strained relationship with her sister Haylie Duff, from her song “We Don’t Talk.” For example. Hilary sings, “I’m not sure when it happened / Not even sure what it was about.”
For her Glamour cover story, they also brought up lyrics to another one of her songs “The Optimist,” musing it could have something to do with her dad Robert: “I wish I could sleep on planes and that my father would really love me.”
In the cover story, she was asked why she decided to now sing about her family.

“That’s my family. Those are the people that affect you the most, take up the most space naturally as a human who’s born into something. Just because you’re born into a family doesn’t mean that it always stays together. You can only control your side and your street…. I’ve had a very complicated life, and my parents had a very complicated thing. I know it’s not rare, and I think it goes back to the theme of, Why share now? I guess I just felt ready,” she said.
Hilary recently spoke out about “family drama” last year as well.
