Ryan Lochte's Estranged Wife Kayla Reid Talks Her Relationship Status & Moving On After Their Split

Ryan Lochte‘s estranged wife, Kayla Reid, is opening up about the status of their separation.

The 34-year-old influencer and new host of a podcast called The Comeback Era filed to divorce the 41-year-old Olympian in March 2025.

Things have gotten heated in the following months, with Reid seeking full custody of their children in September.

Last month, Lochte moved in with his new girlfriend, Molly Gillihan, as their divorce continues to be held up.

In an interview, Reid opened up about where they stand and how she’s doing nearly a year later.

Speaking to PEOPLE, she said, “Obviously, we’re not in a good place.”

The former couple is dedicated to mastering “parallel parenting” of their children, but she said that they “try to have minimal interaction.”

Reid acknowledged that she might have “a long road ahead” as they navigate the separation, saying that she “would love to be divorced.”

Reflecting on the last year, she said that she “can’t believe what I made it through.”

“I have said it a thousand times, but I don’t know where I’d be if I didn’t have my girlfriends and my family. They have carried me on their backs this past year,” she added.

While her ex has moved on, Reid said that she’s currently “choosing to remain single” and that her “focus is on my kids and building the life I envision for our future.”

Lochte and Reid‘s children are “doing okay” and benefit from having a “great community,” but, “They have their confusion because they are wondering what’s going on.”

Speaking of Lochte, the mom to three said, “I really pray that he becomes the father our kids deserve.”

Turning the focus to herself, Reid is pulling strength from her past.

“I admire the woman I was before. Obviously, I’m proud of who I am, and what I’ve overcome, and all that stuff, but … I would like to find bits and pieces of her again,” she explained.
