Savannah Guthrie's Replacement for Olympics Revealed: Mary Carillo to Fill In for NBC Coverage
Mary Carillo is stepping in to take over for Savannah Guthrie during NBC’s coverage of the Winter Olympics.
Savannah will no longer be going to Italy to cover the games amid the disappearance of her mother, who is believed to have been abducted from her home.
NBC has announced that Mary will join Terry Gannon to cover the opening ceremonies on Friday.

“Our hearts go out to Savannah and the entire Guthrie family. They continue to have our full support,” said Molly Solomon, executive producer and president, NBC Olympics Production, in a statement (via Variety).
The statement continued, “We are fortunate to have a deep bench of talented commentators who will step in and fill these roles. Mary is one of the most experienced Olympic commentators ever and a master storyteller. She and Terry will lead the American audience through one of the world’s greatest global moments.”
Ahmed Fareed will host Olympic Late Night between February 7 and February 9.
