Miranda Kerr Admits She & Ex Orlando Bloom Didn't Bring 'Out the Best' in Each Other During Marriage

Miranda Kerr is looking back at her marriage to Orlando Bloom.

If you forgot, the 42-year-old model and the 49-year-old Pirates of the Caribbean actor were married for three years from 2010 to 2013. Together, they share now-15-year-old son Flynn.

In a new interview, Miranda reflected on the end of the marriage and shared an update on where she and Orlando stand today.

Keep reading to find out more…“We both knew that the relationship was not bringing out the best in each other,” Miranda shared on the We Need to Talk podcast. “And so when we made that decision separate, I said to him, ‘Let’s always put the needs of Flynn first.’”

Following the end of the marriage, Miranda said that as she and Orlando rebuilt their dynamic as co-parents, they “had done a lot of spiritual work,” including a focus on forgiveness.

“Forgiving each other, forgiving ourselves, creating peace within the situation,” she shared.

As they navigated life after their divorce, Miranda said that it was an easy choice for them to “not make it about” themselves, but instead about “what’s in the best interest for Flynn.”

“At the same time, let’s make sure that we completely forgive each other, make peace with each other, because otherwise it really weighs on you,” Miranda added. “When you have a child with someone else, they’re always going to be that person’s parent for the rest of their life.”

That realization made her relationship with Orlando become “harmonious” and “peaceful.”

After admitting that she had difficulties setting boundaries with Orlando, Miranda said that all changed after she met husband Evan Spiegel, with whom she shares sons Hart, 7, Myles, 6, and Pierre, 23 months.

“My husband has good boundaries,” Miranda explained. “And in the beginning, when Orlando and I had recently separated, I was just very, very giving, as always, and wanting to please. And if Orlando had a last-minute change—and he would say this himself—I would always accommodate him to that.”

After Evan, 35, came into the picture, he empowered Miranda to push back and be clear about her boundaries, for example, telling Orlando, “I’m so sorry that your plans changed, but we planned according to this.”

Now, nearly 13 years after their divorce, Miranda said that she and Orlando are in a great place.

“Orlando and I are great friends,” she shared. “I just wished him happy birthday and he told me, ‘Thank you to me for being such a wonderful mother to Flynn.’ And a great friend to him and that how grateful he is to have me in his life.”

“I feel the same,” Miranda continued, “and I said, ‘Thank you for everything that you are and being such a you know wonderful father to Flynn.’”

Back in September, Miranda addressed Orlando‘s split from longtime fiancée Katy Perry.
