'The Pitt' Season 2: Here's How Tracy Ifeachor's Dr. Collins Was Written Off The Show
The Pitt is finally addressing Tracy Ifeachor‘s shocking exit from the Emmy-winning HBO series.
Back in July, it was announced that the 40-year-old actress, who played Dr. Heather Collins in season one, would not be returning for season two.
During episode 4 of the second season that aired on Thursday (January 20), viewers finally learned how Dr. Collins was written off the show.
Keep reading to find out more…In the new episode, Dr. Whitaker (Gerran Howell) is looking after Louie, a patient who is a regular in the ED and needs a dentist referral to help with an aching tooth.
When the patient asks if Dr. Collins is around, as she has helped him with referrals in the past, Dr. Whitaker informs him that she no longer works at the hospital.
Dr. Whitaker explains that Dr. Collins “finished her residency” and “took up a job in Portland as an attending physician.” He also revealed that Collins is “adopting a baby” and “wanted to be closer to her family.”
As fans may recall, Dr. Collins’ big storyline in season one was her pregnancy and later miscarriage. She kept the news a secret from most of her coworkers, hoping to share the news after hitting the 12-week mark, which would be the end of her first trimester. Sadly, she suffered a miscarriage in episode seven.
Following Tracy‘s exit from The Pitt, there was a lot of speculation surrounding why she left, with some reports suggesting that she was fired. There were even rumors she was part of a church that performed “gay exorcisms” and her rep had to eventually release a statement amid all the speculation.
Noah Wyle finally set the record straight on why Tracy really left the show.
New episodes of The Pitt are released on Thursdays at 9pm ET on HBO Max.
