'RuPaul's Drag Race' Star Briar Blush Explains What Happened When She Fainted on the Show
RuPaul’s Drag Race season 18 contestant Briar Blush is opening up about that scary moment when she passed out mid-judging on the runway.
When Briar went down in the episode, right in the middle of judge Law Roach doling out his criticism, her sisters tried to revive her and a medic was called. Now she is ready to talk about what happened.

She told Entertainment Weekly that it was the first time she’s fainted. Briar remembered Michelle Visage‘s critiques, but then halfway through Law‘s she “started getting warm in the head.”
“I blinked, and thought Juicy Love Dion was just looking at me sideways. I didn’t realize I was on the ground. I was mad for a second. I looked around and saw queens on stools and Ru screaming for medics. I didn’t realize I’d fainted,” the reality star explained.
But things took a scarier turn after the show when she went to the doctor and got diagnosed with pneumonia, and later, sepsis.
“I was told I had walking pneumonia for weeks, which later turned into sepsis,” Briar recalled. “The pneumonia happened during the show, sepsis happened after the show. I got very sick after filming. Athena [Dion] told me I looked worse, so I went back to the doctor and ended up having sepsis.”
She claims that she was treated “for the wrong kind of pneumonia,” so she wasn’t improving.
“I think the first doctor I saw was kind of a quack. I went back to the doctor because I felt worse. It started feeling kind of grim. When I went back, it became more dire. I was in the hospital with sepsis,” Briar clarified.
Thankfully, after a brief hospital stay, she is doing better, though she did damage her left lung.
“When you’re sick that long, it can cause lasting damage to the lungs. My lung may or may not ever be the same as it was, but I’m in a much better place with my health,” she concluded.
New episodes of RuPaul’s Drag Race air Friday nights at 8pm ET on MTV.
