Harry Styles Explains Why He Randomly Appeared at Pope Leo XIV's Conclave Election in Rome
Harry Styles is finally addressing his viral appearance at the Vatican!
Back in May, the 31-year-old “Aperture” singer had fans talking when he randomly popped up at Pope Leo XIV‘s conclave election in Rome.
In a new interview with BBC Radio 1 on Friday (January 23), Harry explained why he was in the crowd for the monumental moment.
Keep reading to find out more…“I was getting a haircut in Rome, and I just heard all these people start shouting, ‘Habemus papam! Habemus papam!’” Harry recalled. “People just running down the street.”
He said that his barber also started chanting the Latin phrase, which means “We have a new pope.”
“So the guy cutting my hair stopped cutting my hair,” Harry continued. “He was like, ‘Habemus papam!’ Then he finished up.”
After his haircut, Harry decided to check out the action.
“I was like, ‘Oh, I’m like a five-minute walk from there,’” he said. “So I walked over. It was wild.”
He also joked that it was unusual to see someone getting more attention than him.
“I was like, ‘Who is this getting all this attention?’” Harry teased.
