Anahí, Dulce María, Maite Perroni, Alfonso “Poncho” Herrera, Christian Chávez, and Christopher von Uckermann formed RBD in 2004.
The group sold over 15 million records worldwide, and released six albums during their initial run, including hits like “Sálvame,” “Sólo Quédate En Silencio,” “Ser o Parecer,” “Este Corazón,” and “Rebelde.”
RBD‘s final studio album, Para Olvidarte de Mí, was released in 2009.
The group reunited for the 2023 Soy Rebelde Tour, which trekked across North and South America, and was their first outing since 2008.
Alfonso, notably, did not partake in that reunion tour, and has not performed with the group since 2009.
As for why he didn’t reunite with the band?
In 2015, Poncho told Noroeste: “I confess that singing was never my great passion, but RBD will always be a part of me. I have discovered that cinema is my great passion. Making television is an exercise, doing theater is a delight, but what truly marks you is cinema.”
Poncho has since gone on to star in Rebel Moon Part One and Part Two, Sense8, Dance of the 31 and Ozark.
