Hilary Duff's Recent Comments About Cutting Out Friends Resurface Amid Ashley Tisdale Drama
Hilary Duff recently made comments about cutting out friends from her life and the quotes have resurfaced amid Ashley Tisdale‘s “toxic mom group” drama.
Ashley just dropped an essay about her decision to leave a “toxic mom group” and fans have speculated that Hilary is part of that group.
While Ashley‘s rep has denied that the essay is about Hilary and other celeb friends, Hilary‘s husband made a comment that seemingly confirmed the rumors.
Now, fans are connecting the drama to comments that Hilary made in November 2025.

While appearing on Jake Shane‘s Therapuss podcast, Hilary said that she has a “talent” for cutting out friends who aren’t suiting her anymore.
“I’ve always had a really good gauge with people — I think it’s, like, a little talent that I have really good friends and it doesn’t take me long to figure someone out [and] figure out if someone’s not for me,” Hilary said. “I think that was also very good for my health back then. I wasn’t, like, spilling out the clubs with other teen stars and stuff.”
Hilary also called herself the “mom” of her friend group.
“I think that a lot of us hold that space for each other, like, to where we could come with problems, but I’m just very direct. Maybe a little too much sometimes,” she said, adding that she doesn’t “like to have a rub with someone or something and not work through it.”
Hilary talked about friendship breakups, which she said could be “worse” than a romantic one.
“You have to friend cleanse,” she said. “It’s OK to edit. But you feel like a bad person when you’re doing it.”
She added, “You have to just own it and be like, ‘I can’t show up for you in this capacity right now. It feels overwhelming. And, blah blah blah. Like, I need some space.’ I’ve had to do it a few times. I just always want my side of the street to be clean. You know what I mean? I don’t want to make anyone feel bad by my actions. I’d rather have a conversation about it.”
One of Ashley‘s friends has expressed distaste for the comments made by Hilary‘s husband.
