Producer Shares More Insight on Sabrina Carpenter's 'Alice In Wonderland' Movie

It was recently announced that Sabrina Carpenter is starring in an Alice In Wonderland movie musical and now we have a little more info!

Wicked producer Marc Platt is producing the 26-year-old entertainer’s upcoming project with Universal Pictures, which is in the early stages.

While attending the Wicked: For Good premiere in NYC this week, Marc dished on Sabrina‘s Alice in Wonderland take, which is not going to be what you expect.

“It’s an idea that Sabrina‘s had and so we’re just in the beginning stages,” Marc Platt told Variety‘s Marc Malkin. “It’s a contemporary story with an allegory to and based loosely on Alice In Wonderland.”

“We sat down and we talked about it. I thought she’s such a talented and young person, and a voice. I love her music and she was just smart and articulate,” the producer continued. “Like the journey that Alice goes on in the Lewis Carroll book, and so I said, ‘Let’s take a shot at it.’ So, we’re early days.”

“There’s nothing at the moment, but it’s coming,” he concluded.

As reported last week, Marc confirmed the movie will be written and directed by Lorene Scafaria, who wrote and directed Hustlers. She also wrote Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist!

If you didn’t know, Sabrina has been trying to get this project made for about five years now.

Back in 2020, it was originally picked up by Netflix, and was reported to be a modern-day musical set against the backdrop of a music festival called Wonderland.
