David Fincher had a very different take on the Harry Potter franchise, should he have directed the movie adaptation of the popular JK Rowling book series.
The director, best known for helming such movies as Gone Girl and The Social Network, recently opened up about having a meeting with Warner Bros to talk about what his vision for the film adaptation would be.

“I was asked to come in and talk to them about how I would do Harry Potter,” he shared with Variety. “I remember saying, ‘I just don’t want to do the clean Hollywood version of it. I want to do something that looks a lot more like Withnail and I, and I want it to be kind of creepy.’”
David noted the studio had a more traditional take in mind.
“They were like, ‘We want Thom Browne schooldays by way of Oliver’” he said.
