Kathy Griffin and Anderson Cooper were friends for years and co-hosted CNN’s New Year’s Eve specials from 2007-2016.
In 2017, she was let go by CNN for her infamous photo with a model head that looked like Trump. At the time, Anderson said he was “appalled” by the photo shoot.
They had a falling out after this and Anderson admitted he hadn’t reached out. To add to this, Andy Cohen replaced Kathy as Anderson‘s co-host on CNN’s New Year’s Eve special.
If you forgot, Kathy‘s reality show Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List ran on Bravo from 2005 until 2010. She’s since publicly feuded with Andy, who is a Bravo exec, over the years.
In her most recent interview about this topic, Kathy was asked about what happened with her and Anderson, and her and Andy.

In May of 2024, she shared that she allegedly did reach out to Anderson and he apparently responded.
“I did email him a couple of months ago for the first time. I was feeling really melancholy one day and really missing his mom [Gloria Vanderbilt]” Kathy apparently said earlier this year. “I messaged him to say I loved her and her sayings: you are never done; there is always another day; or, your whole life can change in one phone call.”
Anderson allegedly wrote back, with similar sentiments about Kathy‘s late mom Maggie Griffin. “I miss your mom too. Maggie was always so sweet to me.”
Kathy then added, “I really loved him.”
In September of 2024, she was asked in another interview about everything that happened. She told EW, “Why doesn’t anyone ask Andy Cohen these questions? Why am I always having to put my feet to the fire? I’m always asked about Anderson and Andy. That was done to me. I don’t have an answer.”
She said it was like being “thrown away like a piece of trash.” She added, “Nobody goes up to Anderson and goes, ‘How could you have done that to Kathy?’ Nobody goes up to Andy and goes, ‘Andy, how could you do that to one of the stars of your network?’ Nobody asks them, ever.”
She added that she’s gotten “no apologies” from anyone who “deserted” her after the 2017 incident.
She continued, “All I can do is be honest and say it hurts. It hurts that I’m not doing specials there. It hurts that they never let me do a spinoff with my mom and dad in the early years of the D-List. It hurts that they don’t want to do a D-List 2.0.”
There is some very good news for Kathy‘s fans in that you can finally watch My Life on the D-List on streaming!
