Grimes cleared the air about her relationship with Elon Musk after accidentally reigniting a feud with Azealia Banks.
If you forgot, the 36-year-old musician and the 33-year-old rapper were embroiled in a bitter feud back in 2018. It all started when Azealia accused Grimes of ditching her at Elon‘s house when they were supposed to be working on a collaboration.
On Wednesday (December 25), Grimes shared a Wicked meme that reimagined her as Glinda and Azealia as Elphaba. After the rapper caught wind of the meme, she took to social media to drag her former friend.
This prompted Grimes to address her split and clarify some things about her bad blood with Azealia.

“Hate to say it but wouldve been kinda lit,” Grimes wrote on X (formerly Twitter) in response to the reimagined versions of the iconic characters, who are played by Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo in the recent musical movie.
Azealia perceived the message as a diss and responded in full force.
“Girl the way u are still trying to hold out on some weird a-s innocent bulls-it years later after u got dumped, cheated on, ur kids kidnapped and still trying to paint me like the villian and act like ur above me when ur getting sonned by elons secretary , -when ur the one that *literally* did not make the f-cking music and Elon is the one who harvested ur eggs and took a picture of your c section is PEAK white female delusion,” Azealia wrote on X. “Get over urself ho. The n-gga has like four new kids and ur really a lame. Sis. U can really quit mentioning me. I know you wish you could be my bestie but b-tch….. it’s f-cking boring as hell. Let it go.”
She continued in a follow-up post, accusing Grimes of “deflect[ing] from the fact that Elon really dogged you and dragged u in front of the entire world had you begging for your kids n s-it sis then threw all his hoes in a compound together and took his little bag of k and went to maralago…. sis… it’s a dub.”
“Ur not lady gaga girl. Relax,” she added.
Grimes replied and denied that she was trying to villainize Azealia.
“It’s just a funny joke bro,” she wrote.
The hitmaker also clarified things about the end of her relationship with Elon. For starters, she said that she was not the one that got dumped.
“i didn’t ‘get dumped’. I bounced. My amazing baby is asleep in my bed beside me, I’m in love. no regrets. Life is as beautiful as u want it to be,” Grimes wrote, adding that the rapper was “insanely talented.”
Regarding the end of her friendship with Azealia, the musician noted that she was “p nice to not press charges.” She alleged that the rapper “literally blackmailed me for 250K and leaked all our personal texts cuz I wouldn’t pay her.”
Grimes also addressed one of the allegations that Azealia made about her – that she smelled “like a roll of nickels.” According to her, the allegation was true.
“I also literally did smell like a roll of nickels because I had a bunch of shell casings in my purse and every time I had to use anything in my purse my hands got this distinct metallic smell,” she wrote.
She released a song about her feud with Azealia back in 2021.
More recently, she shared additional information about the end of her relationship with Elon.
