We’ve officially heard it from Anne Hathaway herself: Princess Mia Thermopolis is returning to Genovia!
On Friday (October 4), it was revealed that Disney was officially moving forward with a third movie in her mega-successful Princess Diaries series. This will be the first one since The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement premiered in 2004.
The movie’s director was revealed. However, it was unclear if Anne and her costar Julie Andrews were returning to continue the story.
However, Anne just made things very official!

Taking to Instagram, Anne shared a clip of herself reacting to the news that the movie was moving forward.
The actress included a clip of her character learning that she was royalty in the first movie, to which she responded by saying, “Shut up.” Anne then held up three fingers and repeated the line.
“Miracles happen ✨???? Back to Genovia with @adeleblim @disney @somewherepictures. The fairy tale continues ❤️????,” she captioned the post.
Earlier this year, Anne’s onscreen grandma Julie opened up about the status of the third movie. However, she has not yet confirmed if she will return.
