Not much is known about the loss as of this time. “The family is asking for privacy at this time,” his agent said in a statement.
Pete played in the MLB for 24 seasons and still holds the record for most hits in baseball history with 4,256 hits across his career. The player to get the closest to that record in recent years was Derek Jeter at 3,465 hits, so it’s likely that he’ll hold the record forever.
Throughout his career, Pete most notably played for the Cincinnati Reds and he also continued his career as a manager for the team. He was deemed permanently ineligible from baseball in 1989 after being accused of gambling on games.
We’re sending our thoughts and condolences to Pete Rose‘s loved ones during this difficult time. RIP.
