Artem Chigvintsev is responding to to estranged wife Nikki Garcia‘s divorce filing.
On Sept. 11, the 40-year-old retired WWE star filed for divorce from the 42-year-old Dancing with the Stars pro after two years of marriage. She listed August 29 as the date of separation, the same day Artem was arrested for domestic battery, and cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason behind their divorce.

Two days later, Artem responded to Nikki‘s divorce filing by submitting his own paperwork.
In his filing, he also confirmed their date of separation as August 29 and also listed the reason for the split as “irreconcilable differences,” according to Us Weekly.
He requested spousal support from Nikki and asked her to pay his attorneys fees. Artem also requested joint legal and physical custody of Matteo.
Also in the filing, Artem is claiming putative spouse status from August 26, 2022 to January 19, 2023. A putative spouse is someone who believes they are legally married, but the marriage is actually invalid. Artem and Nikki got married in France in August 2022, but the court documents say that they didn’t get married in the United States until January 2023.
