Tom Cruise made a huge splash during the 2024 Paris Olympics Closing Ceremony by performing an incredible stunt to signal the next games being held in Los Angeles.
The beloved movie star gave the world a glimpse of what Hollywood has to offer through his appearance, which was organized by the LA28 team.
Tom jumped off the roof of Stade du France and landed at the base of the stadium, then walked over to Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles to accept the official Olympic flag. He then carried the flag as he rode a motorcycle to an airplane near the Eiffel Tower. A pre-recorded segment then showed him skydiving into Los Angeles near the Hollywood sign.
“The backstory is that we realized we were producing a 15-minute live TV show, and so I hired who I think is the best person in the world to do that,” LA28 Casey Wasserman said (via The Hollywood Reporter).

Wasserman revealed that Tom received ZERO DOLLARS for his payday and that everyone working on the project did it for free.
He said, “[Tom] finished filming Mission: Impossible at 6 p.m. in London, got right on a plane. He landed in L.A. at 4 a.m., and filmed the scene where he pulls onto a military plane. In L.A., he does two jumps out of the thing. He didn’t like the first one, so he did a second jump. Then he helicoptered from Palmdale to the Hollywood sign, filmed from 1 until 5, helicoptered to Burbank Airport and flew back to London.”
