Simone Biles Talks Bowing Down to 'Queen' Rebeca Andrade After Brazilian Gymnast Wins Gold at Paris Olympics 2024
Simone Biles is singing her praises for Rebeca Andrade!
On Monday (August 5), the 27-year-old U.S. gymnast, who is the world’s most decorated gymnast, competed against the 25-year-old Brazilian gymnast in the floor final at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
In end, Rebeca took home gold while Simone won silver and her Team USA teammate Jordan Chiles won bronze.
It was a historic moment for all three gymnast as the trio made history as the first all-black podium in men or women’s gymnastics at the Olympics. Rebeca also became the most decorated Brazilian in Olympic history in any sport with four medals.
During the medal ceremony, Simone and Jordan, 23, bowed down to Rebeca as she celebrated her gold medal win.
After the viral moment, Simone explained during a press conference why she and Jordan bowed to Rebeca.
Keep reading to find out more…“Rebeca’s so amazing, she’s a queen,” Simone said, according to BBC. “She’s such an excitement to watch and then all the fans in the crowd were always cheering for her, so it was just the right thing to do.”
“It was an all-black podium so that was super-exciting for us, but then Jordan was like ‘should we bow to her?’ and I was like ‘absolutely,’” Simone added.
Rebeca also spoke out the Simone and Jordan bowing to her, saying “It was very cute of them. They are the world’s best athletes and what they did means a lot to me. We’re always rooting for each other, the final is very difficult for everyone.”
In another recent interview, Simone addressed the possibility of competing in the 2028 Summer Olympics, which will be taking place in Los Angeles.
