We learned new details about The Batman: Part II during a DC panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday night (July 27).
The event was largely focused on the new spinoff series The Penquin starring Colin Farrell, which will premiere on Max later this year. In fact, the show’s first official trailer arrived and showed Colin‘s scheming to rule Gotham.
However, The Batman director and writer Matt Reeves also provided an update about the status of the sequel to Robert Pattinson ‘s 2022 blockbuster. Chiefly, he confirmed that another star was returning and hinted at a production timeline.
There was even a hint about additional spinoff shows like The Penguin!

The Hollywood Reporter noted that Colin will officially be back for The Batman: Part II, which is expected to premiere on February 2, 2026.
In fact, Matt revealed that his villainous character was originally supposed to play a large role in the early part of the movie. That changed once the TV series was ordered.
The movie is expected to enter production in 2025, and there was a hint that additional shows could be developed, seemingly focused on other characters and aspects of the franchise.
