October 9 – FIFA are so keen to make the expanded Club World Cup, Gianni Infantino’s pet project, be a success despite widespread opposition from player unions that they are willing to rewrite transfer rules.
With the controversial revamped 32-team tournament set to take place in the United States from June to July next year, FIFA has implemented temporary transfer regulations to facilitate player movements.
The FIFA council recently approved interim transfer market regulations enabling member federations to open a special transfer window from June 1-10.
