Feyenoord director Dennis te Kloese has admitted that he is unhappy with how Southampton moved on to Aaron Ramsdale so quickly after Justin Bijlow’s deal broke down.
Saints were looking for a new quality goalkeeper to bring in this summer and Feyenoord shot-stopper Bijlow was the player they first turned to.
Bijlow was very close to joining Southampton, but the move broke down at the last moment when the shot-stopper failed his medical.
Russell Martin’s side completed a big-money move for England international Ramsdale following the collapsed Bijlow deal.
Feyenoord director Te Kloese is of the view Saints were too fast to move on to Ramsdale and a transfer can not be arranged so quickly.
“It is quite a coincidence that a club has Aaron Ramsdale ready for €25m and a five-year contract five minutes after they told us that he would not pass the medical”, Te Kloese told ESPN Netherlands.
“I don’t think you can organise that in five minutes.”
Te Kloese also insisted that he is happy that Bijlow’s deal did not go through in England.
“Secretly I am a bit happy that he is back.”
Bijlow has not played a single minute for the Dutch side this season so far as he is behind Timon Wellenreuther.
New Saints custodian Ramsdale could be getting his St Mary’s debut against Manchester United at home after the international break.
