Southampton look set to miss out on a key midfield target as a Champions League side have now agreed a fee for his services.
With the start of the new Premier League campaign beginning to loom on the horizon, Saints boss Russell Martin will be keen to crack on with transfer business.
Ben Brereton Diaz is set to join from Villarreal, while Southampton recently made an offer for Metz midfielder Lamine Camara.
That bid was knocked back and Southampton were thought to be in a battle with Saudi Arabian side Al-Qadsiah for his signature.
Now though Southampton are set to lose out on Camara as, according to French daily Le Parisien, Monaco have agreed a fee for him.
The Ligue 1 side, who are in next season’s Champions League, have come to an agreement with Metz on a price for Camara.
The Stade Louis II side will now be looking to get the deal over the line as quickly as possible to guard against hijack attempts.
Landing Camara will be a boost for Monaco, but also a blow to Southampton, who have chased him.
