AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswami criticized the DMK government, alleging rising murders in Tamil Nadu and deteriorating law and order. He urged Chief Minister M K Stalin to focus on preventing crimes instead of taking credit for AIADMK schemes. Palaniswami questioned the impact of poor safety on tourism and investment in the state.
Satyajit Managobind Samal, a native of Jajpur, targeted his victims - mostly divorcees or widows - through matrimonial sites, selecting individuals from West Bengal, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Odisha. After duping 49 women through a series of flings, some of which resulted in marriages, Samal fled to Dubai, police said.
Jayen Mehta, managing director of GCMMF, called it a "milestone" verdict. "This has established that a consumer has no right to recover money by illegal and defamatory posts misusing social media," said Mehta.
