India vs South Africa: Anushka Sharma celebrates Virat Kohli’s super 53rd ODI century with sweet post
Actor Anushka Sharma posted on Instagram to cheer for her husband Virat Kohli after he scored another century in the second ODI against South Africa in Raipur on November 3.
She posted a picture on her Instagram story showing Kohli celebrating his milestone, raising his bat and helmet as the crowd applauded. To show her pride, she added a red heart emoji to the story. On the ground, Kohli marked the moment by kissing the wedding ring hanging on a chain around his neck and then looking up toward the sky.
This was Virat Kohli’s 53rd hundred in ODI cricket, scored at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur. He reached the milestone in 90 balls, extending his strong form. Earlier, he had scored 135 off 120 balls in the first ODI in Ranchi, helping India win by 17 runs.
With this knock, Kohli has reached a total of 84 international centuries. He is steadily moving closer to Sachin Tendulkar’s all-time record of 100 international hundreds.
What happened in the match?
India posted a strong total of 358/5, thanks to brilliant hundreds from Virat Kohli and Ruturaj Gaikwad. Kohli kept up his outstanding form with a knock of 102 from 93 balls, while Gaikwad hit his first ODI century, making 105 off only 83 deliveries. The two joined forces when India were struggling at 62 for two, but they quickly changed the game with a superb stand. They put on 195 runs for the third wicket, setting a new record for India’s highest partnership against South Africa in ODIs for any wicket. After both were dismissed, KL Rahul gave the innings a solid finish, remaining not out on 66 and scoring his second straight fifty of the series.
South Africa found it difficult to slow down India’s scoring because of injuries and the nature of the pitch. Their problems increased when fast bowler Nandre Burger had to walk off during his seventh over due to ankle discomfort. Marco Jansen turned out to be their best bowler, taking 2 wickets for 63 runs by using short balls well on the slow, gentle surface.
