Landscapes Unlimited recently completed major irrigation work at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, N.J., and Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan.
At Baltusrol GC, Landscapes Unlimited installed a new irrigation system and power communication writing for a new Precision Air system on the Upper Course. Paul Roche of Golf Water designed the system, and Gil Hanse served as the project architect.
At Prairie Dunes CC, the company installed a modern irrigation system across all 18 holes and practice areas, including a new 1.5-acre, three-green practice site. The system was designed by Brian Keighin of Irrigation Technologies.
According to the company, the process moved along quickly with minimal disturbance to play. Axland & Cutten was the consulting firm on the new short-game amenity.
“These storied courses require the best irrigation infrastructure to support world-class conditioning and maintenance of playing surfaces,” says Jake Riekstins, chief development officer of Landscapes Unlimited. “Our talented teams worked closely with irrigation designers, golf course architects and superintendents, Board of Directors and others integral to modernizing Baltusrol and Prairie Dunes to even greater heights.”
Baltusrol GC has hosted seven U.S. Open Championships, two PGA Championships and two U.S. Women’s Opens. It will also host the 2029 PGA Championship.
Prairie Dunes CC has hosted the U.S. Women’s Open, U.S. Senior Open and NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship. It will also host the 2029 U.S. Senior Open.
