Fenway Park is usually home to the Boston Red Sox, but two college football teams will square off at the historic ballpark on Saturday, December 28.
The Wasabi Fenway Bowl will pit UConn against North Carolina for postseason glory at 11 a.m. ET with Chris Cotter, Mark Herzlich and Coley Harvey working the broadcast for ESPN.
UConn is coming off an 8-4 season under former NFL coach Jim L. Mora, his first winning season and second being bowl-eligible of three spent in Storrs. His team will be searching for his ninth win to close out a banner year.
As for North Carolina, former NFL coach Freddie Kitchens will be filling in as the interim coach for the Tar Heels after Mack Brown in November.
New England Patriots coaching great Bill Belichick was hired as the new head coach earlier this month, but he will not coach the team on Saturday at Fenway.
To make it all sweeter, the victor will receive a trophy that is shaped like Fenway Park.
