Since 2017, nearly 10,000 residents of areas bordering Cotonou have faced forced evictions, according to a report by Amnesty International. Linked to government projects to develop tourism, these evictions are producing dramatic consequences for the displaced residents. FRANCE 24’s team on the ground went to the Fiyégnon 1 district, where nearly 3,000 people were evicted from their homes in 2021.
