An Air India passenger plane en route to London crashed Thursday morning near Ahmedabad in northwestern India, killing all 242 people on board, Indian Express reported, citing police.

A convoy carrying hundreds of activists has arrived in Libya after driving from Algeria and crossing through Tunisia on its way to the Gaza Strip to challenge Israel’s blockade on humanitarian aid on the territory. The convoy is made up of at least 1,500 people, including activists and supporters from Algeria and Tunisia, with more expected to join from Libya.

British foreign minister David Lammy said he was deeply saddened by news of the crash of a London-bound flight in India, and that Britain was now working with Indian authorities. Speaking in parliament later on, Lammy said Britain had activated a crisis team in both India's capital, New Delhi, and in London.

The head of Stop Ecocide International has spoke to FRANCE 24 from the UN Ocean Conference in the south of France about the need to legally recognise crimes against the environment as serious crimes. The three days of clashes in Ballymena erupted on Monday night after two teenagers were arrested for an alleged attempted rape of a young girl at the weekend. Police have not confirmed the ethnicity of the teenagers, who remain in custody and had asked for a Romanian interpreter in court. This year marks the 39th edition of the annual romantic film festival, held in the French city of Cabourg in Normandy. Set to run until June 15, this year’s edition will spotlight seven feature-length films and 10 short films. Archaeologists have discovered what they say are the remains of a 16th-century merchant ship more than 2.5 kilometres underwater off the coast of Saint-Tropez in southeastern France. They said the ship, which was discovered by an underwater drone, was sailing from northern Italy loaded with ceramics and metal bars before it sank.

Europe's biggest airline by passenger numbers has previously hit out at "unruly" behaviour caused by travellers consuming excessive amounts of alcohol while waiting to board delayed flights.
