The Supreme Court of India held that non-appearance in response to a proclamation is considered a stand-alone offence under section 174A of IPC, continuing even if the proclamation under section 82 CrPC is no longer in effect. The ruling follows an appeal against a Punjab and Haryana High Court judgement.
