The “work-life balance” debate got the fillip with Gautam Adani joining in earlier this week. The fact is that, as the economy progresses, it induces change, both in terms of needs and preferences. To put it in perspective: Need is money and preference is leisure. In a recent survey, young people were asked what they would look at while deciding whether or not to take up a job. The responses suggested that “work-life balance” was a priority for today’s youth. Now, how does this relate to the stock market? It does, because the “balance” they speak of has an element of higher consumption of some goods and services.
