Eight people, including a 2-year-old girl, died and 26 others were injured when a bus plunged into a drain near Jiwan Singh Wala village in Bathinda district. The driver lost control of the speeding bus, possibly due to lightning. Locals and officials carried out a rescue operation and transported the injured to nearby hospitals.
