Gains in auto stocks were offset by weakness in banking and FMCG sectors, resulting in a mixed close for the markets. The S&P BSE Sensex ended marginally lower at 78,472.48, down 0.39 points, while the broader Nifty edged up 22.55 points, or 0.1%, to close at 23,750.20.
