The Centre doubled the penalties for stubble burning in Delhi and NCR due to worsening air quality. Farmers with less than two acres will pay Rs 5,000, those with two to five acres face a Rs 10,000 fine, and those with over five acres will be fined Rs 30,000 under new rules effective immediately.
