The African Union's health agency stated the mpox outbreak in Africa is not under control and urged for more resources to prevent a worse pandemic than Covid-19. Over 1,100 deaths and around 48,000 cases have been reported in 19 countries since January, with Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo among the most affected.
