The Supreme Court has assured the Bangalore Bar Association that it is addressing the issue of vacancies in income tax appellate tribunals (ITATs). The ITAT, a quasi-judicial body handling direct tax appeals, currently operates with 126 members across 30 cities. An early hearing on the matter is promised.
