The Taiwanese Ministry of National Defence plans to purchase over 1,000 additional Stinger missiles from the US, aiming to enhance its defence capabilities amid rising tensions with China. This follows previous orders of 250 missiles each by the Army and Navy. Delivery is expected by 2031, as Taiwan faces delays in receiving arms since 2019, hampering its preparedness. Talks initiated under former President Tsai Ing-wen aim to meet air defence requirements and extended conscript service.
