The Sri Lankan Navy detained 11 Indian fishermen and one boat for maritime violations, leading Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin to request intervention from the Centre. Stalin wrote to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, highlighting the recurrent nature of these arrests, with 324 fishermen and 44 boats seized in 2024 alone. He called for swift diplomatic action to secure the release of the fishermen and their boats.
