Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed that the anti-talk faction of ULFA still has influence in the state, with about 400 members based in Myanmar. Although its impact has lessened compared to the 1990s, Sarma noted that the group remains active. He is in regular contact with ULFA leader Paresh Baruah to discuss peace talks but has faced challenges, particularly over the issue of sovereignty.
