Deputy Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit, inaugurated a new manufacturing facility to reduce import dependence for chaffs and flares used in military aircraft self-defense systems. Developed under the Make in India initiative, this facility will produce various chaff sizes for aircraft like Mirage 2000 and MiG 29. Economic Explosives Limited established the plant with support from Defence Laboratory, Jodhpur, making it India's first advanced technology facility for Chaff fibers. The move aims to cut costs and reliance on imports, previously sourced mainly from the UK.
