Kashmir is experiencing a severe heatwave, with some areas reaching their highest July temperatures in 25 years. Srinagar hit 36.2 degrees Celsius. The last time Srinagar saw similar heat was on July 9, 1999. Other towns in south Kashmir also recorded their hottest July day, with Qazigund reaching 35.6 degrees Celsius and Kokernag at 34.1 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological office predicts rain in the next 24 hours to cool things down.
