Well, one is really an audio but in this case, that’s even better
We thought we’d dedicate today’s YouTube Gold to the late great Bob Harris and we’re going to do a double header for the occasion.
The reason why we’re doing that is because first, out of respect for Bob and second, we don’t think he’d care for the first video that much.
As we said Tuesday, Bob was the most genial sort of man you could hope to meet. Even under pressure he was always a gentleman and courteous to everyone.
Except for Mike Nifong.
When the disgraced Durham D.A. was running for re-election, he saw Bob getting into his car after voting and went over to speak to him. It’s the only time we ever saw or heard him get irritated at anyone. He told Nifong off, which a whole lot of people wanted to do at the time - and since, for that matter. Bob, we’re guessing, didn't see this as one of his finest moments, but a lot of other people sure did.
For the second, here’s an interview with Bob on The Sports Sound Off Show from Charlotte.
He called in a day or two after the Austin Rivers game and you’ll hear his call of that Duke-UNC classic, which is an awful lot of fun.
It’s good to hear his voice and you’ll get a sense of what we’ve been talking about and we mean this in the finest possible way: the man was born to talk and he was lucky enough to find a place where he could do it for decades, and to hundreds of thousands of people. We were all blessed to have him for that long.
