A man was arrested after being holed up inside a 7-Eleven in Van Nuys for several hours on Saturday, August 31, where he smashed windows and threatened employees, authorities said.
Officers were dispatched around 4 a.m. to the 15300 block of Vanowen Street, at Sepulveda Boulevard.
The suspect, described as a 35-year-old man wearing a black T-shirt and white pants, smashed store windows, threw glass bottles and threatened workers, LAPD Officer David Cuellar said.
A SWAT team was called to the location at about 5:30 a.m.
All employees and customers were able to exit the store, and there were no reported injuries.
The suspect remained in the store, alone and armed with the bottles, until he was taken into custody around 10:45 a.m. Cuellar said.
The motive was not immediately clear.
