The future National Guard officers, studying at the higher military schools in Greece, have chosen an arduous but honourable path, Defence Minister Vasilis Palmas said on Friday.
Addressing their swearing-in ceremony, Palmas expressed certainty that the candidate officers would prove to the worthy of the expectations of the country and its people.
Palmas said that in the 60 years of its existence, the National Guard has countless examples of duty and devotion, which are expressed on a daily basis, not only on the war front, defending the homeland.
“They are expressed daily in the small, seemingly insignificant actions. They are determination to do what is right when no one is watching; insistence in striving to improve and never being complacent; the ability to support your colleagues even in difficult conditions; working diligently and silently for the common good,” Palmas said.
He urged the future officers to always be proud of their choice tho serve their country.
Palmas added that in the new, complex world, characterised by continuous intense changes, the role of the future officers will be significant.
