A solar panel company, “CP Altech Energy Ltd”, was issued a €7,000 fine on Monday after it was found that it had failed to ensure its workers’ safety.
The labour inspection department had taken the company to court after an employee of the company had sustained an injury after falling eight and a half metres onto the floor of a warehouse while installing solar panels.
The Nicosia district court found that the company had “failed to take appropriate measures for the safe execution of work at height”, and that the appropriate equipment and protection mechanisms had not been provided to the workers.
