Limassol police on Wednesday are investigating a case of assault and theft from a 64-year-old man allegedly lured to the scene by a young girl.
According to the police, the 64-year-old reported that on Tuesday night, shortly before midnight, he was visited in his hotel room by a young girl whom he had met several months ago, who proposed they go out for dinner.
On the way to a fast-food restaurant near the hotel, the girl, according to the complaint, drove the man to a dead end where her 15-year-old friend, also known to the 64-year-old, was to be waiting.
The minor appeared a half hour after midnight, accompanied by another girl and two men. One of the men allegedly sprayed the 64-year-old with chemicals and punched him in the face.
With the help of the rest, they threw him to the ground and continued beating him up. One allegedly stole his wallet, containing a cash sum of €5,500, and his ID card.
The 15-year-old, her friends and the girl who had initially accompanied the man out of the hotel, then drove off in an unknown direction. The 64-year-old was taken to hospital where he was treated and released.
An arrest warrant is expected to be issued against the 15-year-old and police are seeking information about all involved.
