Star English batter Joe Root is once again setting his eyes on another big record in Test cricket as England cricket team will take Sri Lanka in a three-match test series. The first Test of the series will start from August 21. Root is currently the leader in the run-scoring list in the World Test Championship, has one chance to hit yet another milestone with his name.
Root is already the first batter who has scored more than 4,000 runs in WTC, can now also become the first batter to score 5,000 runs in WTC history. he is currently on 4,598 runs and needs 402 more runs in order to reach this success. He is in terrific form and used to be the leading run scorer for his team in the last red-ball tournament against West Indies.
Many people have started saying that Root has the time and skills necessary to surpass the legendary Sachin Tendulkar to become the leading run scorer in Test cricket. He still needs 3,894 runs to reach that place, which will take a few years. However, there is still a record which he can try to beak. He currently needs 445 runs to get over Alastir cook’s Test tally, if he manages to get past it, he will be the leading run scorer for England in test cricket format.
