IND VS ENG: Virat Kohli, the Indian cricket team’s top batter, took to social media to share his delight following Rohit Sharma and Co.’s historic series victory against England. India trounced England by five wickets in the fourth Test at Ranchi on Monday, taking a commanding 3-1 lead in the five-match series. Kohli opted out of the Test series to spend time with his wife, Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma, and their newborn son, Akaay. However, within minutes of the series victory, Kohli shared a unique message with the team.
“YES!!! Our young team pulled off a fantastic series victory. Demonstrated grit, determination, and resilience. @BCCI,” he wrote on social media platform X (previously Twitter).
India’s home dominance weathered the ‘Bazball’ storm as Rohit Sharma’s side achieved a hard-fought five-wicket win over England in the fourth and penultimate Test for their 17th successive series victory in their own backyard, delivering a severe reality check to the visitors’ one-dimensional approach.
Overnight 40/0 in a pursuit of 192, India romped home after a few hitches, with the opening duo of skipper Rohit Sharma (55 off 81 balls) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (37 of 44 balls) laying the groundwork for others to build on with their 84-run stand on day four of the tournament.

There were some anxieties after the two were dismissed in quick succession, followed by Rajat Patidar and Ravindra Jadeja, but Shubman Gill (52 not out) and Dhruv Jurel (39 not out) led the team home with an undefeated 72-run partnership.
Left-arm spinner Tom Hartley (1/64) claimed the prized scalp of Rohit, but Shoaib Bashir was the most successful English bowler, taking 3/79 in the second innings for a match haul of eight wickets.
India leads the series 3-1, with the last game planned in Dharamsala on March 7. The team’s most recent home series loss was a 1-2 defeat to Alastair Cook-led England in 2012-13. Since then, India has won 39 of 50 Tests at home.
